Prep is the job
Most flooring failures start with the subfloor nobody looked at. A floor laid over an uneven base will telegraph every dip, click hollow, and separate at the joints within a year. I check flatness before a single plank goes down — because the floor you walk on for the next fifteen years is decided in the prep, not the pattern.
